“The implementation of extension and integration as methods of differentiation ”

 

The objectives of the coaching session were to identify the appropriate tasks for practicing such methods of differentiation as extension and integration.

For understanding the effective implementation of extension and integration methods of differentiation into practice, teachers were demonstrated the strategies, which would be helpful in their teaching practice.

To set up the lesson objectives in a proper way, the teachers got acquainted with the verbs of Bloom’s taxonomy: analysis, synthesis, evaluation. For practicing all the suggested strategies the teachers were encouraged to apply these methods while collaborating in groups. The teachers of English and Physical Education were split into groups to create the activities. The following topics were chosen by the teachers:  “To investigate the influence of morning exercises on the intellectual activity of students”, “Study the terms and rules of the handball game at English and Physical Education lessons”, “Create a conceptual map for using the sports games terminology with a help of a basketball game video”, “Study the geometric figures with the help of fruits and vegetables images.

The cooperation between the teachers stimulated them to reflect on their practice and get new awareness of further implementation these differentiation methods into practice.
